About Me

Hello & Welcome,

My name is Susan Glassett (for now....a name change will come in the next year).

I am a National Bord Certified Teacher teaching math & science at the North County Technology and Science Academy a school site that is part of the North Region Community School for the Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) operated by the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE).

As this blog's title implies I am a doctoral student in the Joint Doctoral Program with California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).  In this program I have discovered that I love research even more than I love teaching.  Research provides a powerful, defendable platform for advocacy.

I am hoping to advance to candidacy shortly after defending my proposal dissertation on October 18, 2011 at CSUSM.

My dissertation is currently titled "Real Alternative? A Mixed Methods Examination of Student Experiences in an Alternative School"  and is grounded in Critical Theory, Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Student Voice.

Cool Uh?
